Rachel: My girlfriend wants to be with my best friend whose in love with her.

Maddy: That sucks. I’m sorry.

Rachel: It does suck. I don’t know what to do.

Maddy: Kelly’s been sleeping with Johnny for a month now. She doesn’t want to tell him she’s with a girl. So she is dating him.

Rachel: Wow. I guess you win.

Maddy: I don’t think it’s a contest.

Rachel: True.

(Pause)

Rachel: Who’s Johnny?

Maddy: (breaking out into laughter) Who’s Johnny? He’s the star receiver on the Cherry Lane Varsity fucking football team.

Rachel: Oh. Sorry I asked.

Rachel:Is it about Kelly?

Rachel: This crying.

Maddy: Why would it be about her?

Rachel: Because you love her.

Rachel: As more than a best friend.

Maddy: I don’t know what you’re talking about.

Maddy: I’m fine, thank you.

Rachel: So, you’re okay?

Maddy: Of course, I’m okay.

Rachel: You seemed pretty upset last night.

Maddy: I was.

Rachel: I’m sorry. Anything you wanna talk about?

Maddy: No.

Rachel: I understand.

Maddy: No, I don’t think you do.

Rachel: You’d be surprised. You could try me, what’s the harm?

Maddy: I’ve gotta go. I’ll talk to you soon.

Red Queens & Broken Hearts
Rachel really got the shit end of the stick when it came to me. It's not that I didn't love her, we wouldn't still be friends otherwise. It's just that looking back I see so blatantly that I kept parts of me private from her. I couldn't risk the chance of investing my full self.
Survey – Firsts
My first car, was a '66 Ford Mustang. I wanted a Mustang just like all the guys in the neighborhood had growing up. Stephen bought me the '66 from his aunt. He gave it to me for our one year anniversary.
